C. K. Nayudu



Cottari Kanakalaya Nayudu, popularly known as C. K. Nayudu was the first Indian captain in Test cricket. He was a right handed batsman and a valuable change bowler. He used to hit the ball extremely hard. He was the very first cricketer, who was honoured with the Padma Bhushan. He spent his childhood in Nagpur and played cricket in central India. In 1932, he was the top scorer despite a painful hand injury he got while fielding. His batting average of all matches was 37.59. In three matched against England, his score exceeded thousand runs. Nayudu was particularly strong in driving, bowled correctly at slow medium pace and was a superior fielder.
