Biju Patnaik

Bijayananda Patnaik, known as Biju Patnaik was a renowned Indian politician. He was born on March 5, 1916 in Cuttack Orissa, India. He joined the Indian National Airways after studying Aeronautics at Aeronautical Training Institute in India. Subsequent to the war effort from 1940 to 1942, he got imprisoned for three years because of the activism involved in the Quit India Movement. He was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, Madhusudsan Das, Gopalbandhu Das. Patnaik dedicated himself completely to the Indian Freedom Movement. He was often linked with the Nepalese Democratic Movement and even assisted Indonesia in Independence. He was the Chief Minister of Orissa twice and a member of Lok Sabha, as well as the Rajya Sabha.
