Ashok Kumar

Ashok Kumar was born on October 13, 1911 in Bengal Presidency. His actual name was Kumudlal Kunjilal Ganguly. He was a legendary actor of Indian cinema and was affectionately called ‘Dadamuni’. He started his acting career in the year 1936 with the film ‘Jeevan Naiya’.
Ashok Kumar has acted in more than 275 films. He also anchored the first Indian television soap ‘Hum Log’. His title character in the movie ‘Bahadur Shah Zafar’ made him unforgettable. His last film as an actor was ‘Aankhon Mein Tum Ho’ in 1997. Besides being an actor, he was also a good painter and homeopathy practitioner. He died on 10th December, 2001 in Mumbai at the age of 90.
