Arundhati Roy



Suzanna Arundhati Roy is a writer, novelist and activist of India. She was born on November 24, 1961. The God of Small Things is her first novel that she started writing in 1992 and completed it by 1996. It is a semi-autobiography and major part of the book is about her childhood experiences. In 1997, she won the Booker Prize for her first novel. In the same year the book was also listed as one of the New York Times Notable Books of the Year.

In 2002, Arundhati was conferred the Lannan Foundation's Cultural Freedom Award and the Sydney Peace Prize in May 2004 for her work in social campaigns and her advocacy of non-violence.
