Articles of the Constitution



The Constitution of India consists of a preamble, twelve schedules, ninety-four amendments, and five appendices. The Constitution of India covers a total of 395 Articles in 22 parts. The articles of the Indian constitution are, the union and its territory, citizenship, fundamental rights, fundamental duties, Directive Principles of State Policy, The Union, The States, The States in Part B of the First Schedule, The Union Territories, Panchayats, Municipalities, The Scheduled and Tribal Areas, Relations Between The Union and The States, Finance, Property, Contracts and Suits, Trade, Commerce and Intercourse within The Territory of India, Services Under The Union and The States, Tribunals, Elections, Special Provisions Relating to Certain Classes, Official Language, Emergency Provisions, Miscellaneous, Amendment of the Constitution, Temporary, Transitional and Special Provisions and Short Title, Commencement, Authoritative Text in Hindi and Repeals.
" WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN

SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens:

JUSTICE, social, economic and political;

LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;

EQUALITY of status and of opportunity;

and to promote among them all

FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation;

IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949, do HEREBY ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVE TO OURSELVES THIS CONSTITUTION. "
The Parliamentary form of Government of India was first introduced by the Constitution of the nation. Consisting of the President the Parliament of India has two Houses namely Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
