Anand Bakshi

Anand Bakshi, born on July 21, 1920, in Rawalpindi, was a popular Indian poet and lyricist. He was employed as a switch board operator. But later, he tried to break into Indian film industry. In 1956, he got his first break, when Bhagwan Dada signed him to write four songs for Brij Mohan’s Bhala Aadmi.
Anand worked as a lyricist for over 300 films in the course of his life. He made his real breakthrough in 1967, with the movie ‘Milan’. In April 2001, he caught a bacterial infection and died on 30 March 2002 at Nanavati Hospital. Throughout his career, he won four Filmfare awards as best lyricist.
