| Amitav Ghosh is an Indian-Bengali author and literary critic highly acclaimed for his work across the nation. He was born in kolkata and attended The Doon School, St. Stephen's College, Delhi and the Oxford University, where he was awarded Ph.D in anthropology. This prolific writer has a number of fiction, non fiction, essays and many more to his credit. Most of his themes are unique, personal and full of Indo-nostalgic elements weaved in to more serious themes. Some of his writings include In an Antique Land, Dancing in Cambodia, At Large in Burma, Countdown and The Imam and the Indian. He was bestowed with Padma Shri by the Indian Government in 2007. |
