Amir Khusro

Amir Khusro (1253-1325 CE) was a musician, scholar and a poet. He was one of the most prominent figures in the cultural history of the Indian subcontinents. He primarily wrote poetry in Persian and also in Hindavi. He is widely known as the father of Indian Sufis. He is credited with enriching the Hindustani classical music by introducing Arabian and Persian elements in it and was the originator of tarana and Khayal style of music.
Khusro is also traditionally attributed with the invention of the Indian Tabla. He was also prolific in tender lyrics and could easily imitate all styles of poetry which had developed in medieval Persia.
