Allauddin Khan

Allauddin Khan, a sarod maestro and a multi-instrumentalist was born in Shibpur village in 1862. He belonged to the Maihar Gharana, and made fundamental contributions to this Gharana. He was the court musician of Brijendra Singh, Maharaja of Maihar Estate in the Central Province.  He wedded Madanmanjari Devi in the year 1888, and the couple had 4 children.
He had been honoured with various awards and felicitations such as a Padma Bhusahan and Padma Vibhhushan. Maihar College of Music was established by Khan in the year 1955.
