Agra
The medieval city of Agra is located along side the river Yamuna in Uttar Pradesh. It is known throughout the world for the Taj Mahal which is one of the most magnificent mausoleums and a priceless possession of India. The city is also famous for various other Mughal architectural wonders such as Fatehpur Sikri and the Agra Fort.
Agra was the capital of the Mughal Empire under Emperor Akbar, Jahangir and Shah Jahan from 1526 to 1658. At that period Agra was known as Akbarabad. This city is also famous for handicraft products such as carpets, jewelry, footwear, brassware, zari, embroidery works and leather works.
