It can be said for India that like most of the other continents and major power blocs, the African Union also shares good relations with the country. Most sub-Saharan nations in Africa have shared a good trade relation as well as political cooperation with the Republic of India.
Trade deals are signed on political trips made by the ministers. These include the Credit Agreement of India with Mauritius in 1997 which concerned finance for import of consumer durables and capital goods. Also, the agreement with Seychelles on rice and medicines is an important one in the long list of cordialities with the African Union. Those countries that have been forgotten by the western world, like Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe, etc are maintained good relations with by the Indian republic. |
