Since a major percentage of India’s adult population is uneducated, it becomes somewhat unrealistic to expect that their children would go to school too. Therefore efforts have been taken by the government of India to educate the masses too, irrespective of their age. Classes have been started for the uneducated people so that they are at least able to perform the basic educational functions, write their name, etc.
The main aim is to bring about a change radically in to the minds of these people and stress the importance of education in their lives and their growth. As a result of this venture, there has been an increase of more than 5% in the literacy rate amongst the Indian population.
