Adi Sankaracharya

Adi Shankara, was also known as Sankara Bhagavatpadacarya and was born around 788 – 820 CE. He was the first philosopher to consolidate the doctrine of Advaita Vedanta, a sub-school of Vedanta. He toured all over India to propagate his teaching through debates and discourses with other philosophers. He was the founder of four monasteries that played a major role in the development and spread of post-Buddhist Hinduism as well as Advaita Vedanta.
The teachings of Adi Sankaracharya were based on the unity of the soul and Brahman. He was regarded as the incarnation of Lord Shiva. He was also the founder of the Dashanami monastic order and the Shanmata tradition of worship.
