Achanta Sharath Kamal



Achanta Sharath Kamal, born on 12 July 1982, is a professional table tennis player of India and an employee of Indian Oil Corporation. In 2003, he won his maiden National Championship. He won the men’s singles gold in 2004, in the 16th Commonwealth table tennis championship held at Kuala Lumpur. At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, he won the first ever individual gold medal.
Kamal represented India in the 2004 Olympics in Athens and in the 2006 Asian Games at Qatar. He was the first Indian to win the Pyongyang Invitational Tournament held at Pyongyang, North Korea in 2007. In the year 2004, he was conferred with Arjuna Award.
