Abanindranath Tagore

Abanindranath Tagore was born on 7th Aug 1871 (1871-1951). In his life he made several paintings and mostly the master pieces. He was the nephew of famous painter/writer/poet Rabindernath Tagore (Writer of National Anthem of India). He was one of the prominent painters of Bengal school of painting. In fact he was regarded as the founder of neo-Indian school of paintings (Bengal school of painting). He was an expert in expressing his thoughts through his visual arts. His first set of paintings was series of Radha-Krishna (1895-1900). He made various other series like Khayyam series, Andrews, Laila-Majnu (1930), Alamgir, Sun worship (1911-1919).
During his lifetime he was the first major supporter of swadeshi values in the Indian art.
